Metzler expands its international business – Ulf Wokurka appointed new Managing Director
By appointing Ulf Wokurka as Managing Director of Metzler Asset Management GmbH, Metzler is pressing ahead with the ex-pansion of its international activities. The renowned eastern Europe expert will be responsible for acquiring and servicing institutional clients in east-ern Europe and in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).Since 2006, the 46 year-old Ulf Wokurka has been deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Finance Officer of the Kazakh state holding Samruk in Astana, Kazakh-stan. Prior to this, Wokurka had been active for ten years in the eastern European business of Deutsche Bank. At Metzler Asset Management, he will be responsible for acquiring and servicing institutional clients in eastern Europe and in the Com-monwealth of Independent States.
According to Norbert Enste, partner of Metzler bank, “The appointment of the renowned eastern Europe expert Ulf Wokurka as Managing Director brings Metzler an important step forward in its internationalization efforts. In addition to Japan, China and the Middle East, we would now also like to penetrate further into the booming markets of eastern Europe and central Asia“.
The Asset Management division, which is one of Metzler’s core business divisions, managed a volume of some EUR 38.5bn unit trusts and special funds at the end of July 2008 – including consulting and other mandates as well as the assets managed on the fund trading platform Metzler Fund Xchange.
