Top ranking for Metzler Asset Management

The Standard & Poor's (S&P) international rating agency has awarded the Metzler Japanese Equity Fund an AAA rating. This outstanding rating, which only five other Japan funds in Europe can currently claim, was awarded to the Metzler fund despite the fact that it is still relatively new. The Metzler Japanese Equity Fund is based on its parent fund, the T&D Active Value Open Fund, which is managed in Japan and was awarded in AAA rating by S&P as long ago as 2005. It is one of the most successful Japanese equity funds in the world. Its success is due to the consistent investment approach adopted by T&D Asset Management, the Japanese investment management company that handles both of the funds. T&D Asset Management manages assets worth approx. EUR 25 billion as part of Japan's fifth biggest life insurance group, T&D Life. The Metzler Japanese Equity Fund, which was launched in 2004, invests exclusively in Japanese equitites, and has performed strongly from the very start. It has consistenly outperformed its benchmark index, the TOPIX.

The Metzler Japanese Equity Fund was recognized in the category "Equity Japan" for its performance over a three-year period. Having achieved an extraordinary risk-adjusted performance, it received the highest ranking over this period.
The same fund received the €uro Fund Award 2008 in the category "Japanese Equity Funds" over a three-year period. The €uro Fund Award highlights investment funds achieving the best ranking over a one-, three- or five-year period in its respective peer group.

Sauren Fonds-Research AG has awarded gold medals to the Metzler equity fund managers Lorenzo Carcano, Heiko Veit and Markus Brück. Metzler fund manager Lorenzo Carcano received two gold medals from Sauren Fonds-Research AG for outstanding fund management in the "Equities Europe second-tier stocks incl. UK" category.
Heiko Veit, who is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the growth funds and manages the European growth fund Metzler Euro Growth, was awarded two gold medals in the "Equities Europe incl. UK". Markus Brück, who manages the Metzler Eastern Europe fund, received a gold medal in the "Equities Eastern Europe" category.

The good performance of Metzler Asset Management is gaining recognition: in 2001 Metzler was the first German asset manager to be assigned a rating by FitchRatings. In the following years, FitchRatings confirmed its "AM2" rating (corresponds to aa), particularly emphasizing the high standards of Metzler's investment process, risk management and product development.

In November 2004, Metzler Asset Management was distinguished by the British weekly journal Financial News for its "outstanding achievements in institutional asset management".
