In 2019 and 2020, Metzler will sponsor Augsburg-based company German Bionic, which received the German Founders Award 2019 in the category “Start-up”. Founded in 2017 with locations in Berlin and Tokyo, German Bionic produces a smart exoskeleton that supports people when lifting heavy things. The exoskeleton Cray X balances weights of up to 25 kilograms, thus preventing lower back problems.
“The Cray X is an invention that makes physical work easier and prevents back problems. It offers numerous different possibilities of use, e.g. for heavy lifting at the airport baggage carousel, for execution of picking jobs in the logistics chain, or for the demanding tasks of patient personal care,” says Friedrich von Metzler. “We’ve waited a long time for technology like this.”
Friedrich von Metzler, personally liable partner at Metzler Bank, has been a committee member of the German Founders Award, the most important award for young entrepreneurs in Germany, since 2006. The initiative aims to promote a positive start-up climate in Germany and encourage young entrepreneurs to start their own companies. Metzler Bank sponsors nominated companies for two years, providing them access to its network and lending moral and practical support.
