Mit aktivem Portfoliomanagement und ESG-Kompetenz Anlagechancen nutzen

Besonders interessant für Investoren ist der chinesische Aktienmarkt aufgrund seiner Struktur – eine Kombination aus hoher Marktkapitalisierung, großer Ertragskraft und breiter Diversifikation. Ende 2020 lag Festlandchina mit einer Börsenkapitalisierung von 10,9 Billionen US-Dollar (inkl. Hongkong sogar von 17,4 Billionen US-Dollar) weltweit auf Platz zwei hinter den USA mit 42,6 Billionen US-Dollar. Die Bedeutung des chinesischen Aktienmarktes spiegelt sich auch in einer steigenden Gewichtung in internationalen Indizes wider. So beträgt der Anteil chinesischer Aktien im MSCI Schwellenländerindex mittlerweile über 35 %, und auch andere wichtige internationale Anbieter haben den „Inclusion Factor“ erhöht. Das Einbeziehen chinesischer Aktien in internationale Indizes wird für langfristige Kapitalflüsse nach China sorgen, wodurch wiederum die Gewichtung Chinas in den Indizes kontinuierlich steigen wird.

Günstige Bewertungen und niedrige Korrelationen

Von Jahresanfang 2021 bis zum 15. Juni verlor der Inlandsaktienindex CSI 300 0,90 % und hinkte damit deutlich hinter den Aktienmärkten in Europa und den USA hinterher. Die chinesische Wirtschaftspolitik des Schuldenabbaus sorgte für Wachstumsenttäuschungen. Die Ausgaben für staatliche Infrastrukturprojekte wurden merklich zurückgefahren, die Kreditvergabe für Immobilien erschwert und der geldpolitische Stimulus reduziert. Schuldenabbau kostet kurzfristig immer Wachstum. Die chinesische Wirtschaft dürfte zwar noch einige Monate unter diesem Gegenwind leiden, aber damit die Basis für einen tragfähigeren Aufschwung legen. Auch ein Blick auf die Aktienmarktbewertung lohnt sich: Per Ende März 2020 waren chinesische A-Aktien mit einem Kurs-Gewinn-Verhältnis (KGV) von 15,2 auf Basis der Gewinnschätzungen für die kommenden 12 Monate relativ günstig. Das KGV liegt damit zwar über dem historischen Durchschnitt von 13,8, ist aber im Vergleich mit den USA (22,3), Japan (16,4) und Europa (16,4) niedriger. Die Kurskorrektur am chinesischen Aktienmarkt bietet somit attraktive Einstiegsmöglichkeiten.

Denn auf Unternehmensebene gibt es viele spannende Geschäftsmodelle mit hohem Wachstumspotenzial. So spiegelt der chinesische Aktienmarkt den erfolgreichen Strukturwandel der chinesischen Wirtschaft wider. Die Marktanteile von IT, Dienstleistungen, Gesundheitswesen, Pharma- und High-Tech-Unternehmen nehmen stetig zu. Die Wettbewerbsvorteile führender Unternehmen in diesen Branchen führen zu höheren Gewinnmargen und langfristigen Kapitalerträgen für die Aktionäre. 

Auch ist ein strukturell bedingter Rückgang der Volatilität zu beobachten; nach einer Analyse der rollierenden Einjahresvolatilität des CSI 300 lag die Trendlinie 2006 noch über 30 % p. a., 2020 unter 20 %. Einfluss darauf könnte auch die geänderte Anlegerstruktur gehabt haben: Während 2006 noch Kleinanleger überwogen, bildeten 2021 institutionelle Anleger die Mehrheit. Die Struktur des chinesischen Aktienmarkts entspricht damit mehr dem einer entwickelten Volkswirtschaft als dem eines Schwellenlands. 

Aufgrund der niedrigen Korrelation zu anderen Aktienmärkten sind für die strategische Allokation besonders die chinesischen A-Aktien von mehr als 3.500 börsennotierten Unternehmen in Festlandchina interessant. So lag die Korrelation zwischen A-Aktien mit Märkten wie den USA, Japan und Europa in den vergangenen fünf  Jahren sogar unter 0,4. Und auch bei den unterschiedlichen Szenarien für die zukünftige Entwicklung des Welthandels – von einer umfassenden Deglobalisierung bis hin zur Rückkehr der USA zum regelbasierten Welthandel – bleiben nennenswerte geografische Diversifikationseffekte für Anleger bestehen.

Stock-Picker mit ESG-Kompetenz im Vorteil

Die Struktur des Marktes und die sehr unterschiedliche Entwicklung der Branchen zeigen, wie wichtig ein aktives Portfoliomanagement auch beim Investmentthema „China“ ist. Asset Manager mit einer ESG-Kompetenz für China dürften zudem im Vorteil sein: Seit Jahresanfang bis Ende Mai schnitt der MSCI China ESG Leaders Index auf US-Dollar-Basis um rund 5 % besser ab als der MSCI China Index.

Um die speziellen Bedingungen des chinesischen Aktienmarktes professionell zu nutzen, hat Metzler 2009 eine Repräsentanz in Peking eingerichtet. B. die Erhöhung bei Pharma, Biotech und Gesundheitswesen) auch die Auswirkungen des Markteinbruchs Anfang 2020 im Vergleich zur Benchmark in Grenzen halten. Der Metzler China A Share Sustainability Fund (Class A: IE00BF2FJZ56) verzeichnete im Jahr 2020 ein Plus von 43,90 %*, der Metzler China Equity RMB Fund (IE00B79N9Y56) von 46,18 %*. Im gleichen Zeitraum erzielte die Benchmark, der China Security Index 300, eine Wertentwicklung von 26,93 %. Und auch in den ersten Monaten des Jahres 2021 verzeichneten beide Fonds eine bessere Wertentwicklung als die Benchmark.
