Metzler establishes Metzler DX, a new competence center for digital assets, artificial intelligence and process innovation

  • Metzler DX unites existing digital units under one roof – the Digital Assets Office, Digitalmanufaktur and process innovation are pooling their resources
  • Efficiency, innovative strength and implementation speed of digital processes will be increased in the long term
  • Metzler DX units will be headed by Hendrik König and Shahrok Shedari

Metzler Bank (“Metzler”) is bundling its digital expertise in the newly created department Metzler DX (“MDX”) as of June 1, 2025. DX stands for everything related to digital transformation. MDX brings the existing Digital Assets Office (DAO) and Digitalmanufaktur units together and supplements them with process experts from the company's organizational management. By establishing this new digital department, which reports directly to the Executive Board, Metzler aims to expand its proven digital expertise and innovative strength while increasing efficiency and implementation speed of digital processes in the long term.

Executive Board Member Mario Mattera will assume direct responsibility for MDX. The two associated units will be managed by Hendrik König and Shahrok Shedari, who established the DAO together in 2022. Metzler thus continues to consistently pursue its adopted strategy of managing innovations centrally and implementing them in close cooperation with all departments. The core-satellite approach, which has proven successful in numerous internal and external projects, will remain intact. This means that while MDX will act as the central innovation driver (core), the individual specialist units (satellites) will be actively involved in development and implementation.

“By founding MDX, Metzler Bank is underlining its role as a pioneer of digital transformation in the financial sector. We firmly believe in the potential of blockchain and digital assets and are now combining this with artificial intelligence and process innovation in order to remain a reliable partner for our clients in the future,” says Mario Mattera, Member of the Executive Board at Metzler Bank.

“By combining our blockchain expertise with skills in AI and process design, we can develop solutions across all departments that are faster, smarter and more client-oriented – and thus create real added value,” emphasizes Hendrik König.

“MDX provides a strong organizational foundation for Metzler’s digital transformation. By combining technology and process expertise, we are increasing our innovative power as well as our efficiency and implementation speed – and thus strengthening the future viability of our company,” adds Shahrok Shedari.
