Metzler DX brings together expertise from two areas of the bank: the Digital Asset Office and the Digitalmanufaktur. The team also includes organizational management experts who focus on improving efficiency and driving process innovation. Hendrik König and Shahrok Shedari lead the team, under the oversight of Executive Board member Mario Mattera. Its direct connection to the Executive Board enables faster decision-making.

For the bank's business areas, Metzler DX is the primary point of contact for digital topics. Following a core-satellite approach, the team coordinates innovation centrally and implements it in close collaboration with the relevant business units. This keeps its work tightly aligned with real-world business needs.
The impact of Metzler DX is reflected in concrete transactions. In 2023, Metzler Asset Management became the first German asset manager to issue crypto fund units. Metzler also acted as joint bookrunner for KfW’s first blockchain-based bond and as an anchor investor in Berlin Hyp’s first blockchain-based Pfandbrief. Most recently, as part of the European Central Bank’s Digital Euro trials, the bank successfully used digital central bank money to settle a crypto security.
